Dinner at Restaurant Asli, Taman Perling, Johor Bahru

It's located at the Kg. Sg. Temon Baru a.k.a. Perling Seafood Village (N1°27.634' E103 °42.298') Tel : 012-7759632
We reached the restaurant around 6:30pm, it's already 40% occupied! We assume the seafood must be delicious!!

Spotted the river cruise boat form Danga Bay
We really enjoyed the view over here, especially the 'Sunset'.

Our orders :-
* Vegetables
* Toufu soup
* Butter prawn
* Sea shell
* Black Pepper Crab
* Steam Fish
For 8 adults & 5 children.......

Live Seafood

Our foods serve in 15 minutes, hmm....quite fast. The restaurant almost 90% occupied during that time.
8pm.
100% FULL! Can you imagine that?

Comments on the seafood
* Sea Shell - seems like not really fresh (about 30%), we were surprise because of the 'Live' seafood.

* Black Pepper Crab - too 'Oily'.
* Fish - fresh & nice.

* Butter prawn - above average.
* Vege - good.
* Toufu soup - average.

Price
The total Damage was - MYR190.00.
Surprisingly cheap!! I mean for 8 adults & 5 children meals.

There are another 3 restaurants around that area, but I wonder why 'Zero' customer when we finish our dinner. Don't tell me they are worst than this restaurant I visited?

Even though the foods wasn't perfect, but the scenic view around that area worth visit!

Kids playing around......

    I live near there. If you go in the day, you will see how DIRTY and UNHYGIENIC the environment is especially all the rubbish that accumulate below the stilts of the restaurant and the foul smell of the sewage. Pls note, there is no proper toilet, everything is "released" into the sea. Luckily, the seafood is actually imported from kukup and other fishery ports, not from the sea there.

    i think a lot of tourists from Singapore miss the REALLY interesting part. It is the people that live around there. They are NOT malays but orang laut (people of the sea). They look like people from papua, they love to drink coke and they are great swimmers. If you don't mind they don't bath, you can talk to them and you will find them quite friendly.

  8. Anonymous @ 10:43pm,
    I agree with you.
    They are the so call orang asli (native) over there. The place cannot be clean as we see some restaurant in the urban area. And furthermore, the peoples wanna have a better environment but can't really afford. We are very fortunate compare with them...
    Anyway, Kukup is also as same as the environment here, feel free to visit my Kukup trip.
    Thanks for visiting my blog.
    Cheers! :)

  10. Hi Mira Helen,
    Thanks for the visit.
    The Asli Restaurant is not Halal. If you wanna try the Halal Seafood at Johor Bahru, as far as I know only New Straits View Garden Seafood Restaurant. Which is close to Danga Bay of Johor Bahru. I cannot comment on the foods and also the price, because I last visit was 3 years ago...Anyway, what I can recall is the foods are ok. Cannot remember how much we spent for the dinner....
    Thanks.
