Aldy Hotel, Malacca (Melaka).

Aldy Hotel (N2°11.584' E102°14.899')
27 Jalan Kota, 75000 Melaka
Tel: 06-2833232 Fax: 06-2863236

Malaysia National Day (31st AUG 2008)
This was the first time we stay (one night) at this hotel for RM214.00 nett (inclusive of breakfast for 2). The actual rate is RM160.00 for superior room,
RM30 surcharge for holiday season and plus all the tax.

The room is spacious enough for a small family. Surprisingly, the bathroom equipped with bathtub.

Broadband provided free, roof top Jacuzzi & Pub. The ground floor is the Bamboo Hut Bistro & Restaurant.

Bamboo Hut Bistro & Restaurant

Everything was fine, we are satisfied with it.
Except 2 comments from me.....
1)
No 'smile' on the reception lady & the waiter at Bamboo Hut Restaurant. (The only friendly smile was from the lady who sent the additional pillow to us!)
2) Internet provided only until 12am! Disappointed.

We chosed this hotel because it's located in the middle of the tourist area. And it's walking distance to most of the tourist attraction like : Stadhuys (Dutch Square), Jonker Walk, St Paul's Hill, Porta De Santiago, Museum Samudera, Pahlawan Shopping Complex, Taming Sari Tower, Mahkota Shopping Complex and many more....
It's only about 500 meter from the hotel to China town.

The unique design of the hotel

The only disadvantage of the hotel location is......there will be no restaurant around the area after midnight. If you hungry at that moment, the only way to fill your stomach are the snacks in your hotel room.

We had our western breakfast the next day at the Bamboo Hut Restaurant. It's good!

Overall I rated this hotel 3.5/5.
It's worth it for the money we paid. We will be back again......

  6. Hi Q,
You are right. Any hotel which located at the tourist area won't be cheap.
    The breakfast was good! :)

    Hi Bug,
Thanks for the info. Yes, there is the place for them to put up a horizontal pole for the buntings. :)

    Hi Holiday Traveler,
Give a try. Not bad, except the 'Smile'. :)

  7. u know im thinking this 'no smile service' in malaysia is quite bad huh... something should be done lah to help our tourism industry. malaysia is beautiful, but we also must have that warmth for tourists wanting to come back... or even for the locals themselves.

i was in vietnam recently and the experience was bad - from the people. so, for now, no going back!

  9. Q,
U r right. It's a impact to our tourism industry! And I actually not criticize the staffs over there, but their management gotta do something on it! Especially, Malacca just receive the World Heritage title!

    Hi Anonymous@5:51AM,
    Thanks for the visit.

I stayed at Aldy on 16 March 2009 and guess what? The live music from the pub on the ground floor started at 11.30pm and ended when it closed past midnight! Imagine being ill in bed on the first floor and having to bear with the music and screeching sound of the shutter doors when they closed the pub for the day...

  11. Hi Anonymous@5:26pm,
Sorry to hear about your bad experience at the hotel. Anyway, thanks for your comment....at least those who want a quite & peaceful stay can avoid the first floor or choose other hotel around that area.
    Cheers!
