Pulai Waterfall, Johor

Pulai Waterfall (N1°35.480' E103°31.579')

"This trip supposed our Rest & Recce trip, but end up everybody become 'lok tang chi' (Wet in rain).

The fall is located in the Hutan Lipur Gunung Pulai. The park still closed for public after the several
fatal landslides and flash floods. The alternate way to visit the Spectacular Kulai Waterfall is 'sneak' in thru the waterway....So i only share the waypoint here, and enter the park on your own risk.

Turn in from the main road as follow the signboard, park your car after crossing a bridge. It's a open
compound belong to a Malay uncle. You'll need to pay RM1 as parking fee.

Follow the stream

Just follow the stream beside the car park, walk to the upstream direction. A lot of loose rocks along the way, which maybe washed down by flash flood. You'll pass thru a broken dam (N1°35.579' E103°31.425'), follow by 1st tier (N1°35.527' E103°31.501'), 2nd tier (N1°35.489' E103°31.539') then is the main spectacular fall. Estimate the main fall is about 5 stories high. You still can climb up to the fall peak by follow the staircase on the left of falls. Take care, the cemented staircase is very slippery due to the moss on it.

The current of the stream is quite strong after the rain, we had a hard time to come back to the car park in the heavy rained afternoon." - By Snail-Works

The First School for Blind in Malaysia (1949), Johor Bahru

SK Princess Elizabeth. (First School for the blind in Malaysia) (N1°28.036' E103°44.467') It's located just behind the Aloha Tower Condo, Johor Bahru.
This school was built since 1949 and officially open on 1953 by Princess Elizabeth. That was before the independent of Malaysia.

Photo of Princess Elizabeth

We visited this school because of the coming JOTA meeting. It's really an eye opener for us!

The school also provide hostel for the blind students. There are 3 category within them. B1 - Totally blind, B2 - Partially blind, be able to see objects but very blur, B3 - Able to see things in very close distance (less than 20cm).

The Hostel

Also give me a chance to touch on the "Perkins Brailler" which is kind of typewriter for the blind.

We experience their life over here, the way they read, the way they live.......and also explore this very Old school in Malaysia.

She is using the Brailler for her homework

I had a chance to talk to one the boy over there. He love to touch anything that he never touch it before. His ear is extremely sensitive! I believe that's the nature of all the blinds. By the way, he's friendly.....and we ask him about his life in the school, his answer : "I'm very Happy staying over here! I feel secure here and I know everything here...." (He is belong to B1 category....) We just tell him that, we will be back in one week time........

Below pictures shows the way the B3 student study......do you notice the camera below the monitor?

Even the school located in the middle of JB town, but the surrounding environment is green by trees.....

Estuary of Danga River (Sg. Danga), Johor Bahru

This place where I'm standing (N1°28.905' E103°42.737') is located at the back of the Danga View Apartment. It's also just beside Danga Bay of Johor Bahru.

There's a new bridge under construction now at the place I took this pictures. Once it's ready, the road from Danga Bay will be connect to the Iskandar Malaysia Development at Gelang Patah. The bridge will really cut down the traveling time from JB town to Gelang Patah.

Opposite of Danga Bay

Facing south, behind the trees.....there's Singapore.

The purpose of visiting this area is to capture some nice photos before the nature GONE. You can see from the pictures, it's really calm & peaceful for the moment....hmm...will all this beautiful scene remain after the bridge complete or gone forever....?!

Beautiful View of Johor Straits

On one sunny day and I visited this small fishing village and the scenic view really surprise me!!
The village located at the back of Taman Perling - a.k.a. Perling Seafood Village, Singapore just at opposite.

Photo from Google Earth

I simply walk in to one of the Seafood Restaurant call 'Restaurant Asli' (N1°27.634' E103 °42.298'). It's not a big & commercial type, but it's nice and comfort. You can have very nice view of Johor Straits from the restaurant.

The locals are staying along the straits from both sites of the restaurant.

Another restaurant on the right.

This is view in front, right & left from the restaurant.

Closer view.....

Left side

Closer view.....

Right side

You can even zoom in and see some high-rise building at Johor Bahru Town on your right.

I cannot comment on the foods yet. I will definitely come back again for the Sunset and the seafood.

Plentong River, Johor Bahru

Almost the estuary of the river, meet up with Pandan River.......
There's residential area beside this river, if I'm not mistaken......Bayu Tebrau Apartment.

Many peoples love to fishing along this river during weekend.

For me, it's just another 'nature beauty' (exclude the rubbish!). You will feel calm & peaceful over here, I just took out my portable chair and find a place below tree.....relax & enjoy the scenery.
After a week frustrated work, it's a good idea that you can bring your family for short picnic. Hopefully the local authority will do something here for a 'Clean' and beautiful river bank of Plentong.
This river also given a lot of inconvenience to the residents at Plentong during the Flood last year in Johor. It swipes away everything and has make many families homeless!
The nature has a beauty and also ugly, it's depends how humans manage it......
